Borghese Museum & Gardens Tour
It is one of the most beautiful museums in the world. Every person that visits Rome must see the Borghese Gallery!
It was the country residence of the Borghese family and now a precious gallery containing famous masterpieces by Bernini, Caravaggio, Raphael, Titian and many others.
The Museum is not as big as the Vatican, so only 360 people are admitted every 2 hours. Exit is mandatory at the end of time slot. Therefore, we need to make reservations well in advance to visit the Borghese, especially in the summer months.
I will take care of booking the tickets. We can meet in front of the Museum or at your hotel if it is downtown.
We will see the famous mosaic of the Gladiators, a IV century mosaic showing the fighters’ original names and actions. The ceilings of the museum are astonishingly decorated with colorful frescoes that represent episodes of Greek and Roman mythology.
The Borghese gallery is world-wide renowned for the breathtaking sculptures by Bernini. Apollo & Daphne, Aeneas, Anchises and Ascanius, the Rape of Proserpina, the David are some of the greatest marble statues you will see in your entire life!
The museum contains also the richest collection of paintings by Caravaggio, including the St. Jerome & the Young Sick Bacchus.
After the visit of the gallery we will take a walk through the wonderful gardens and park, scattered with temples, lakes, statues and rare plants. You will also enjoy a great view of the city of Rome.
