Housed in a beautiful 17th century palace, which for many centuries was the residence of the noble Roman family Borghese this art gallery is considered one of the most important museums in Italy. The history of the gallery begins with the powerful Cardinal Scipione, a great art lover and a patron of famous painter Caravaggio. With the cardinal’s efforts the collection acquired some great artworks, including the pieces by Titian, Raphael, Caravaggio, Rubens and Botticelli.
