Lake Turano Excursion

by / Saturday, 20 April 2013 / Published in Outside Rome

A wonderful spring excursion around Mount Cervia and lake Turano. From Rome we drive on the highway to Aquila then we take the exit “Carsoli” and we follow the directions to Collalto Sabino. Then we turn for Collegiove and we start the climbing of Mount Cervia.

The town of Collegiove takes its name from an ancient temple of Jupiter built by the Romans. The natural reserve includes dense forests of beech, chestnut, elm, oak, hazel and maple trees. Here live eagles, wolves and wildcats.

We can also find wild asparagus, cicory, salad burnet, dandelion, savory, greater celandine.

Duration: full-day (approximately 5 hours)
