This guided tour of the origins of Rome takes you through the heart of ancient history, exploring key sites that trace the city’s beginnings. Starting at Capitol Hill, you'll learn about its central role in Roman politics and religion, with stunning views over the Roman Forum. The journey continues to the Forum Boarium, Rome's ancient marketplace, home to the Temple of Hercules and the Temple of Portunus, two well-preserved monuments that offer a glimpse into the city's early commercial and religious life.
Next, your guide will lead you through the Velabrum, the ancient valley believed to be the location of Rome's mythical founding where Romolus and Remus met the recovered by the She-wolf. As you walk along the Tiber River, you’ll visit Tiberine Island, home to early temples dedicated to healing gods. The Theatre of Marcellus is next, a grand Roman entertainment venue that predates the Colosseum.
