The National Museum of Capodimonte is housed in a gorgeous 18th-century palace, which served as a residence for some of the most powerful European dynasties, including the Italian Savoy monarchy and the family of Napoleon Bonaparte. Inaugurated in 1957, the museum hosts a large collection of Italian and Neapolitan art from the Middle Ages to the present day.
