Trevi Square marks the endpoint of the Aqueduct of the Virgin, the only ancient aqueduct still in operation today. The square is dominated by the magnificent Trevi Fountain, designed by Nicola Salvi in the 18th century, making it one of the iconic symbols of the Eternal City.
The Fontana di Trevi, or Trevi Fountain, is a stunning Baroque masterpiece located in Rome, renowned for its grandeur and intricate sculptures. The fountain is famously adorned with cascading water, and visitors traditionally toss coins into its waters, believing it ensures their return to Rome.
The Acquedotto Vergine, or Virgin Aqueduct, is an ancient Roman aqueduct that still supplies water to the city today. Built in 19 BC during the reign of Emperor Augustus, it was designed to bring fresh water from the springs near the Anio Valley to the center of Rome, specifically to the baths and fountains.
