Full Description
Built in the early sixteenth century for Agostino Chigi, a wealthy Sienese banker and patron, Villa Farnesina in Rome is one of the most beautiful and noble creations of the Italian Renaissance. It is a masterpiece where architectural design and pictorial decoration harmoniously blend. The villa, designed by Baldassarre Peruzzi, features frescoes by great masters such as Raphael, Sebastiano del Piombo, Giovanni Antonio Bazzi (known as Sodoma), and Peruzzi himself.
During this tour, you will visit the villa’s lavish halls, exploring its stunning architecture and artwork with a professional art historian. You will admire the frescoes by Raphael and other renowned Renaissance artists, while your private guide shares the story behind the Loggia of Cupid and Psyche.
