Marcus Aurelius, Emperor from 161 to 180 AD, was born in Rome and many monuments and locations in the cities are connected to his life and deeds. As a Stoic philosopher, Aurelius spent considerable time reflecting on his personal philosophy, often writing in his private journals, known today as Meditations. These writings, penned during his campaigns, offered insight into his struggles, values, and beliefs.
On this tour, led by a local historian, you will learn about his philosophic principles, his career, his feelings and relations while visit the most interesting sites related to him. Rome, with its grandeur, was the site of many of his decisions and reforms, including military and economic policies aimed at stabilizing the empire.
